About the Editor
Shaun Chamberlin is an author and activist who now heads up the Fleming Policy Centre. Formerly chair of the Ecological Land Co-operative, he was also involved with the Transition Network from its inception, co-founding Transition Town Kingston and authoring the movement’s second book, The Transition Timeline, in 2009.
In exploring the cultural narratives charting society’s course he has written or edited a diverse range of popular and academic publications, spoken at venues ranging from Occupy camps to parliaments, and became one of the Extinction Rebellion’s first arrestees. He is also now one of the six custodians of legendary free pub ‘The Happy Pig‘!
His regular collaboration with his close friend David Fleming included co-authoring a significant UK All Party Parliamentary report together. He then brought Fleming’s Lean Logic: A Dictionary for the Future and How to Survive It to posthumous publication alongside the paperback Surviving the Future: Culture, Carnival and Capital in the Aftermath of the Market Economy – which he drew from the larger work – as well as acting as executive producer on the 2020 film about Fleming’s legacy, The Sequel: What Will Follow Our Troubled Civilisation?
Since 2020 he has led Sterling College’s ‘Surviving the Future: Conversations for Our Time‘ programme, an online crucible for conversations and community in these tumultuous times, enhanced by diverse guests including Jason Hickel, Lyla June, Vandana Shiva, Rob Hopkins, Helena Norberg-Hodge, Mark Boyle, Kali Akuno, Stephen Jenkinson, Kate Raworth, David Abram, Sherri Mitchell and Iain McGilchrist, and all grounded in Fleming’s work.
